 The Goodrich Aerospace FiDS is an integrated system which includes smoke detectors, flight deck panel, maintenance bay panel, wiring, plumbing and Halon bottles. It is designed to satisfy the requirements of FAR Pt 25.857.
The system provides 60 second detection and 60 minute suppression for narrow-body aircraft, and 60 second detection and 180 minute suppression for wide body models. Should smoke be detected the existing master caution warning light illuminates both on the glare shield and on the flight deck panel, and an audible warning is provided to the flight deck crew. Despatch reliability is assured using redundant dual-loop smoke detectors operating independently in each zone and redundant electronic circuitry.
