The Maintenance and Flight Deck Panels control and provide the user interface for the FiDS. Should smoke be detected the existing master caution warning light illuminates both on the glare shield
and Flight Deck Panel, plus an audible fire warning alerts the flight crew.

Dispatch reliability is assured using redundant dual-loop smoke detectors operating independently in each zone and redundant electronic circuitry. A single switch on the flight deck panel will test the entire system including: smoke detectors, Halon bottle pressure indicators, Halon bottles and valve squib directional integrity.
