Goodrich Remote Fuel Data Concentrators provide a new signal conditioning design compliant to FAR 25.98 1. The design meets the tracking separation and in-tank signal isolation requirements for intrinsic safety. Each Data Concentrator is mounted as close as practical to the fuel tank connector, which minimizes the amount of wiring that must be protected from conducted and induced electromagnetic threats. This minimizes the fuel systems original installation, future maintenance and inspection costs, as well as reducing wiring harness cost and weight. The Data Concentrator provides the in-tank sensor interface, analog to digital conversion and scales the sensor data into engineering units. This information is transmitted on an ARINC 429 digital communication channel to a Fuel Quantity Processor unit located in the electrical equipment bay of the aircraft. This processor filters the data, calculates fuel volume and mass and determines volumetric shut-off for all tanks.
Each identical Data Concentrator is configured for its specific fuel tank with pin-programming and this interchangeability reduces spares requirements. The Processor identifies the data for a tank and qualifies the sensor information against the range parameters for the correct fuel tank.
