Goodrich Systems include technically advanced vibrating Cylinder densitometers for high accuracy applications. The desitomerter is packaged in an extruded aluminum housing which is grounded to the airframe inside the fuel tank. A baffle is utilized to allow the fuel to flow to the sensor from the sides while preventing air bubbles from entering the sensor area and causing measurement errors.

The hermetically sealed densitometer directly measures the density of fuel, using a mass on a vibrating spool element. The spool forms a mechanically resonant system with a fixed volume and is designed for long term stability and accuracy. Fuel located within the spool changes the mass of the resonant system and the resultant frequency of resonance. The system's sensitive electronics and logic measure these variations and translate the results into accurate measurements of fuel density.
