Goodrich produces high efficiency servo
pumps in flow sizes and configurations to suit each application. These
pumps are designed to produce only the flow and pressure necessary
to hold position or move as commanded against a load. The precise
matching of flow/pressure output to opposing load and position demand
minimizes mission-integrated horsepower consumption. Servo control
also permits direct connection of pump discharge to the actuator(s):
this eliminates downstream servo valves, with their attendant component
weight and pressure drop (and additional heat rejection) penalties.
Goodrich servo pumps described typically have discharge pressure
ratings of 3000 psi to 5000 psi. To meet the increasing demand for
aircraft hydraulic pumps operating at pressures in the 5000-8000
psi range, Goodrich has developed a clean sheet of paper pump architecture
which achieves high-pressure capability while preserving outstanding
operational life and reliability. These units are check valve pumps,
producing unusually low discharge pressure ripple. Discharge valve
plates and port plates (potentially life limiting components) are
eliminated.
In addition to the hydraulic servo pumps, hydraulic power supply
units and high-pressure pumps, Goodrich designs and produces hydraulic
power packages which provide self-contained, dedicated power sources
at the function to be actuated. These packages may be independent
of, serve as backups to, or replace conventional central hydraulic
systems.
