DC-9 Series 10 Through 50 Retrofit

Goodrich Fuel and Utility Systems designed a Proximity Sensing System for retrofit on the Northwest Airlines DC-9 Series 10 through 50 aircraft. The redesigned system solved reliability problems caused by the original microswitches and proximity sensors. Goodrich provided a complete package to Northwest and obtained an Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) by working with the FAA. Goodrich has also supplied the proximity sensing systems to Air Canada and FinnAir to retrofit their DC-9 aircraft.
