Fuel & Utility Systems

Products

Goodrich Fuel & Utility Systems Division designs and manufactures a wide range of systems for both the original equipment and retrofit aircraft markets. Our products include the following:

Brake Wheel

Brake Control

Goodrich, Fuel & Utility Systems is ready to apply its proven brake system control experience to new brake control system applications. We have experience in both electric and hydraulic systems of various types including Traditional Antiskid, Meter By Wire, Brake-by-Wire, Electric Braking.

Remote Data Concentrators

Data Concentrators

Our remote data concentrators provide interfaces to a wide variety of aircraft sensors and effectors. As they are located close to the signal source, they eliminate unnecessary components and therefore reduce weight, space, and provide a convenient digital interface to other aircraft systems.. The remote data concentrator can be adapted to and configured for almost any interface and subsystem.

All Parts for Shafts and Couplings

Drive Shafts & Couplings

Goodrich Rome produces flexible drive shafts and couplings for aircraft, marine and industrial power transmission equipment. Flexible Shafts transmit power efficiency, requiring no lubrication and only minimal maintenance. High speed and reliability make these units the drive shafts and couplings of choice. Goodrich Rome also provides a wide variety of automated test equipment, special tooling and support equipment for their products.

Fire Protection Systems

Fire Protection

The Goodrich's fire and overheat detection system provides pilots with warning indication in the event of a fire in an engine bay or overheat in the engine nacelles or APU. Combined with a fire suppression, this system provides continuous fire and overheat detection and protection for aircraft such as the C-130, DC10 and MD-80 series aircraft. Using optical smoke detectors, our fire protection systems also provide detection and suppression of cargo bay fires, compliant with FAR 25.855.

C-130 Fuel System

Fuel System Products

Goodrich provides fuel management systems and software packages for integrated avionic architectures. These systems control the pumps and valves in the fuel system for refuel, fuel burn sequencing, defuel and center of gravity management. During refuel process, the fuel management software ensures that fuel is fed into the appropriate tank as selected on the refuel panel and the individaul and total tank quantities are displayed. During flight, fuel burn is controlled in the optimum sequence for performance and efficiency. In some applications, center of gravity control is a flight critical function requireing high integrity software design and implementation.

Hydraulic Actuation

Hydraulic Actuation

Goodrich Rome has provided the world's military fleets with thousands of high precision Variable Exhaust Nozzle (VEN) Power Units for J79, J85 and F404 turbine engines. These products fly on the F-4, F-5, F-18, JAS-39, T-50 and the LCA Aircraft.
Based on decades of successful hydraulic pump and system integration experience we have developed and fielded the Integrated Actuator Package. The IAP is a self contained electrically driven actuation system. The IAP offers adaptability to fly-by-wire control and extensive built in test and health monitoring capability.

Proximity Sensing System

Proximity Sensing

The Goodrich landing gear control and indication systems use proximity sensors to accurately and reliably control aircraft landing gear. These systems provide increased dispatch reliability, improved rigging and automate troubleshooting. The controller monitors proximity sensors to ensure that the cargo bay doors are securely closed and the landing gear completely tucked away We provide proximity sensing systems as a retrofit product (DC9, Boeing 727) and as a completely integrated system.

Integrated Vehicle Health Management System

Vehicle Health Management

The Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS) is the key element to providing enhanced flight performance in the next generation of air vehicles. The VMS provides the necessary computer resources and communications to enable complex control functions (e.g. integrated flight and propulsion control) and the consolidation of vehicle subsystems functions.
